The biggest demand is that he must pretend to be a dashing, available bachelor to appeal to his female fans. This forces him to hide his marriage to Rita, causing immense strain on their relationship as she is pushed into the shadows. The film becomes a satire of Hollywood’s superficiality as Terry navigates his frustrating new life, trying to maintain his own identity and integrity while being molded into a product. Ultimately, he must choose between the manufactured fame offered by the studio and staying true to himself and the woman he loves.
